I don't think the feeling of seeing your favorite team in the world go winless the first nine games of the season can be described in words. As much as I tried to convince myself that despite a new coach, an aging defense and a mediocre offense that we could still make the playoffs, deep down I knew that we are two or three years away from contending.

After achieving their first goal of alienating anyone who doesn't have expanded cable service, the NBA then moves on to its second task - making the game unremarkable for those willing to shell out the time and money to watch this truly defensive struggle.
